Winter Recap

The Kube Family has stayed very busy during these winter months!  Vince's nearly four month stretch of coaching JV girls basketball is actually going by quickly. It has been both a strenuous and rewarding season for him. Sam and I have attended two of the home games and also have met Grandpa Kube there to cheer on the team. Sam always gets very excited when I tell him we are going to the basketball game, but then he is confused why he has to just sit and watch instead of play himself! The last basketball game is scheduled on baby Kube's due date and then we get him back! Sam and I miss having Vince home every night, but on the nights he has early practice our favorite activity together is having a dance party to most often Taylor Swift songs. Sam can identify her from her picture. Sam is at the age where he loves being a helper in any way he can (even at daycare he comes home with a special sticker for being a good helper!). Since Sam and I spend a lot of our nights together, he has taken up an interest in cooking.  He sits on the counter and loves to stir, scoop, pour, hand me eggs so I can crack them, watch dinner cook through the oven door, but most of all taste bits of what we are making as we go.  We make a mess and it takes longer but we have fun!

Our holiday season was a flurry of activity with a trip to MN for the extended Fox Family Christmas and our immediate Fox Family Christmas. And back in WI for the extended Kube Family Christmas and the immediate Kube Family Christmas.  It was busy but a very nice time to spend time with everyone.  We finally got to meet our adorable nephew Eli!  He is such a sweet, good baby boy I hope to have such a good tempered baby like him!   It was also fun to see Sam meet and interact with his 4 girl Kube cousins Ava, Emma, Izzy and Zoey... he held his own with all the girls!

Our newest transition was Sam moving and sleeping in his big boy bed and room.  It is occasionally a challenge to get him down, but he is doing well with it overall and says he likes sleeping in his big boy bed and room. He is also doing great at potty training for his age and often goes potty on the potty 3 or 4 times at daycare and then another 2 times at home per day. We still are far from doing underpants, but will get there when he's ready.  I can't believe how much he is growing up before my eyes!  Good thing we will be having a little baby here soon, they grow way too fast!

2 weeks until baby is due... and we are trying to get everything ready!  We have a few projects for the weekend that hopefully will get done.  I have to get a bag packed with all the hospital essentials, we need to finish Sam's closet (paint and shelves), wash up some baby bottles, blankets, other items, get the infant car seat bases in the cars... clean the entire house and then take a nap?!  The list goes on but hoping for a productive weekend.  Next blog update... Baby Kube premiere!
