Sum Sum Summertime!

There is really no excuse for me taking such a break in updating the blog.  Here's a recap so far this summer!

Summer vacation started almost a month ago for Vince and Sam, meaning they are both home together every day.  This summer is much different than last summer for Vince taking care of Sam.  Vince and Sam keep busy every day by going for jogs in the stroller, going to story time at the library, running errands, going to the Children's Museum, going to visit mommy at work for lunch, going to the Zoo, playing in the kiddie pool in the front yard, going for bike rides with the bike trailer, going to the park and etc.!  Vince still wishes since he is home he could get more done around the house, but spending time with a 15 month old is busy business!  We are so thankful we are able to take a 2 month break from daycare so they can be home together.

Mid June, we had our French friends, Bertrand and Francoise come to the USA to visit! They started their trip in California and made their way to Las Vegas, stopping at sights along the way.  Then they flew to Wisconsin where we picked them up and were able to visit for a few days!  They are farmers in France, so we took them to a Dairy Breakfast at a local farm where they got to tour and pick the American farmer's brain about milking techniques and milk prices in the US.  It was a lot of fun and they enjoyed it.  We also took them to the Capitol for a tour and a trip down State Street, dinner at the Old Fashioned on the Square, and ended up at the Union Terrace for some local Wisconsin beers.  The next day we stopped at Devils Lake for a hike and a picnic and then went to the Wisconsin Dells for a Wisconsin Ducks ride on the Wisconsin River.  That was a fun filled day, and we even got to take the Merrimac Ferry across the River. It was so sad to see them go, and we are so thankful we were able to show them around Wisconsin like they showed us around France.  Someday when Sam is grown up he will go visit France and stay with their daughter Claire for a summer!

4th of July we decided to stay around town instead of go to MN since we will be going to MN 2 weeks after the 4th.  We took Sam to his first parade, and boy did he love it!  He was enthralled by all the action and behaved very well.

I also had my 30th birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary!  Man the years do fly by when you're having fun!  For my birthday Sam got me a new alarm clock since mine broke (he's so thoughtful!)  and Grandma Kube babysat while Vince and I got to enjoy Concerts on the Square.  Vince ordered a delicious meal, and packed wine, bread, and desserts for us to enjoy while we were relaxing on our blanket on the Capitol lawn.  It was a beautiful night!
